As many are aware drug & alcohol abuse is rising quite significantly in our local community. Among this rise it is seen young children/youths are being exposed and/or taking part in this abuse. With this type of abuse it has devastating effects on the young generation. This exposure is curbing their future to partake into risky behaviour, not only to mention the damaging effects to their health, their family and friends. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
As a childcare business I strongly believe there needs to be action to stop the future of our children being exposed to such a disgusting environment and provide children to live a life without exposure to these types of abuse.
I would like to proudly announce that Rachel’s Childcare Services are sponsoring the Victorian Police Citizen Youth Club (PCYC). PCYC started in 1926 and aim to provide opportunities for young people to be involved in a variety of sports and other activities. Part of the PCYC is the Street Smart handbook that is handed out to students in school. It provides information on variety of topics from drugs, sex, healthy minds, jobs and travelling. There are 3 editions distributed throughout the Victorian region each year.
Let’s all stand up and support, for a better future for our children.

I have used them in the past as a teaching resource (we teach Personal Development) and the students really relate to the info. I think they are a great resource and a handy format size.
I would love to use them again with our current students (we have 12 students) as we are looking at various issues such as bullying, cyberbullying, drug use etc.

Just read a copy of your “Streetsmart Handbook” (Vic edt) and after so many years of working in Student Welfare in schools, I was simply blown away. What a great read and an even better resource. I know many teachers that would benefit from the information in the book, myself included. Our school canteen (Angie Foods) was a financial contributor to your funding and the person who disclosed the books existence.
